The circular walk starts at the lower terminus of the
former lift to Sonnwendstein in Maria Schutz.

The ascent leads over
the Gebirgsjägersteig to the north face of Sonnwendstein. After approximately 2

dumplings), Blunzengröstl (roasted black pudding) or Specklinsen (lentils with
bacon).

Erzkogel mountain cross (1504 metres). This is where the Hochalmweg begins.
Crossing the alpine pasture we can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view on to the
highest mountains of Lower Austria, Stuhleck as well as a magnificent view back
to Sonnwendstein. After an hour we reach the Liechtensteinhaus (1340 metres) but
we continue straight away on to the millennium observatory, which at 1350 metres
above sea level towers another 30 metres above the mountain and offers the "most
beautiful panorama of the magic mountains wonder world"
